Stress (Testing) Engineer $75K/yr to $95K/yr North Carolina Join a $3B manufacturing firm in the Greensboro North Carolina area. This firm is number one in the whole in their niche in the aerospace industry. The Stress Engineering position offers a unique blend of options for long term growth within the company. From this position growth into the technical side (Senior Staff Engineering), management side (Program Management) or to becoming a Designated Engineering Representative (DER) are all possibilities. The Stress Analysis Engineering staff specialist will develop and evaluate plans / criteria for a variety of projects and direct others to actively complete the projects. When necessary data is insufficient, or confirmation by testing is advisable he/she assesses the feasibility, soundness and cost to select the appropriate engineering evaluation tests, products, or equipment (testing is handled at the in-house testing laboratory on-site). This Engineer is recognized as a technical expert within the division and possesses a thorough knowledge of general principles and theories in the research, planning and execution of the FAA certification process, and contributes significantly to the solution of applied problems. As a technical expert in the field he/she will participate in establishing design constraints and; · Prepare engineering development proposals and feasibility studies. · Help management set technical objectives. · Coordinate efforts with other units of the company, including Engineering, Manufacturing, Marketing, etc. · Develope new or modified components, products, manufacturing processes,materials, and equipment. · Supervise / provide work direction to lower-level engineers. · Acts independently to determine methods and procedures for new projects. · Works on extremely complex problems where analysis of situations or data requires an evaluation of intangible variables. Exercises independent judgment in developing methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining results. · Will periodically perform basic stress analysis such as; load path, stiffness, load transfer, free body, stability of structures, moment diagram, strengths of materials, finite element analysis, FEA. · Will periodically analyze CAD designs. Job Requirements : · Bachelor's degree in Engineering from four-year college or university; and minimum six years related experience and/or training. · Ability to perform classical stress analysis. · Must be familiar with strengths of standard aviation materials. · Prior experience reviewing and approving drawings. · Must be able to direct work of more junior level engineers. · Strong written and verbal communication skills including the ability to prepare and give presentations. Must be able to communicate with individuals at all levels of the organization and with external clients. · Demonstrated ability to work effectively and productively in cross functional teams. · Must have strong organizational skills and the ability to manage several projects concurrently. · Ability to work proficiently in Microsoft Office Suite applications and other project and engineering related software programs.
