Job Description:

This is an exciting full-time Electrical Engineer opportunity with a growing medical device company in San Diego.  Candidate must have work experience with a medical device company.  The company offers very competitive salary and benefits.

Summary

The candidate will design electrical, electro-mechanical, electronic components, firmware, and battery management systems for new products.

Responsibilities 

"              Working alongside other R&D team members and other cross functional groups, performs Electrical Engineering in the development of new products.

"              Executes projects within performance, schedule, and budget constraints through all phases of product development, from planning stages through design, prototyping, testing, and release to production.

"              Ensures design is thoroughly documented and meets performance, reliability, manufacturability, serviceability, and obsolescence immunity goals.

"              Performs detailed board-level analog design, digital design, and firmware design to meet project objectives., including PCB layout and mixed signal

"              Designs rechargeable battery system

"              Develops detailed, complete, and accurate system, subsystem, and component level specifications.

"              Conducts Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA) on new designs and guides design choices to maximize reliability.

"              Working with legal counsel, prepares information for patent applications, as necessary.

"              Acquires required agency approvals such as, U.L., C.S.A. and IEC 60601-1 certifications.


Job Requirements

Education

"              BS degree in Electrical Engineering and six to ten years of work experience in the medical device industry; or equivalent combination of training and experience. 

Required Experience

"              7+ years experience in the design of complex electrical systems.

"              3+ years experience in the design of complex electrical systems for medical devices.

"              2+ years of analog and digital board-level circuit design experience.

"              Experience in designing of battery charging and management systems a MUST

"              Experience with board-level digital design including common interfaces, timing analysis, SPICE simulation, and state machines.

"              Familiarity with electronic sensors; pressure, flow, etc.

"              Design and testing experience to IEC 60601-1, ESD, EMC, etc.

"              Proficiency with schematic capture, electrical design simulation, design for electrical thermal performance, design for EMI/EMC, planning and reviewing PWB design / layout, and design for low power operation.

"              Proficiency in the use of oscilloscopes, meters, probes, data loggers, logic analyzers, and soldering equipment.

"              Experience interfacing microcontrollers with GUI displays is a plus.

"              Experience creating designs to be produced in multiple global manufacturing sites is a plus.

"              Experience with AutoCAD, SolidWorks, and/or other 3D CAD systems

"              Knowledge of medical device development and risk analysis processes a MUST

"              Experience with GMPs, FDA's QSR, ISO 13485 and IEC 60601-1 compliance

"              Must be a self motivated, innovative, results oriented team player.

"              Must be a legal US resident

"              Strong written and oral communication skills

"              MS Office fluency is a plus (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook.)
