Job Description:

Mechanical Engineer   

Join a leader in the flexible packaging industry that is seeking a qualified candidate to fill the position of Mechanical Engineer located in the Corporate Engineering Department in Atlanta, GA. The successful candidate must possess a degree in engineering as well as eight or more years of job-related mechanical engineering and project management experience. Some travel is required.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• The development of scope and cost estimates for projects
• Proper execution of engineering projects, which includes controlling scope, costs, and schedules.
• Project coordination including effective communication with stakeholders, other engineering disciplines, equipment vendors, and contractors.
• Development and management of mechanical equipment installations and upgrades
• Development and management of facilities construction and upgrades
• The design of engineered systems, such as HVAC and chill water systems.
• Identifying, investigating, and implementing innovative technology solutions which will provide a competitive advantage.
• Problem solving of technical issues, including the ability to exercise independent judgment
• Consulting with customers in problem identification/problem solving on mechanical issues.

Requirements:

• B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from an ABET certified program is required, PE is preferred. PMP certification is preferred. Chemical or Electrical Engineering majors will also be considered, with relevant industry experience.
Industrial project management experience on major efforts ($4,000,000+) in at least 4 of the following areas:
• Rotogravure printing
• Flexographic printing
• Adhesive or extrusion laminating
• Blown film
• Cast film
• Oxidizers
• Building design/construction
• Specific experience managing converting (flexible packaging) projects is a plus.
• Strong written and verbal communications skills
• Attention to detail a must
• Demonstrated interpersonal skills when interacting with project team members, internal customers, senior management and Department leadership and vendors.
• Demonstrated Problem solving skills
• Mechanical equipment design, specification, negotiation, and procurement experience
• Computer literacy in PC base applications including Windows, AutoCad, spreadsheets and word processing
• The ability to work independently
• Operations or maintenance experience is a plus but not required.
