Overview

The Territory Sales Manager will execute a territory sales plan, establishing priorities for each major customer (distributor), or group of distributors, to maximize the company's (employer of Sales Manager) leadership position.

 

One focus of activity is on small to medium-sized distributors where few of the territory's accounts have multiple branches.  National or Regional branch store could be included in some cases.

 

Independently develops a territory-coverage plan, analyzes opportunities and defines selling initiatives to accomplish his/her goals.  These initiatives include advertising, merchandising, sales incentives and training programs. The capacity to solve administrative problems independently is required.

 

Principal Accountabilities

In order of importance (highest to lowest) the functional and relationship responsibilities of the position are described below:

1.         Analyzes territory sales and profit opportunities and develops a master plan of advertising, merchandising, promotion and sales training to enhance company market share and profitability.

2.         Conducts sales associate training at distributor’s facilities, and institutes sales incentive programs to maximize the sales time commitment to company brand(s).

3.         Provides advertising expertise for retailers to promote company brands.

4.         Develops the sales merchandising plans for use by distributors to maximize company exposure and benefits of company brands / products.  Along with department layout, determines optimum POS and signage for the department.  Development of promotional programs for distributors that improve company's product mix and market share is expected.

5.         Resolves customer service problems and works with company plant personnel to ensure a high level of service on a cost-effective basis.

6.         Reviews territory performance and identifies opportunities to enhance profits

7.         Provides warehouse service support.

8.         Creates and presents conceptual selling presentations to improve company’s      balance of sale.

 

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor Degree is preferred and at least 3 years consumer product sales experience.
