Senior Human Resources Representative

$55K/yr to $65K/yr + Bonus

The Senior HR Representative will administer the Human Resource function including recruitment, training, benefit administration, equal employment opportunity, personnel administration and employee (union) relations at the Kansas City and Saint Paul manufacturing plants.  In addition, she/he will assist the Regional Vice President of Human Resources (RVPHR) in handling many labor (employee relations) issues such as, grievances and support for contract negotiations.

Duties

The principle accountabilities in order of importance (highest to lowest) are listed below: (SR)-Shared Responsibility and (FR)-Functional Responsibility

PERSONNEL / EMPLOYEE RELATIONS (UNION) ADMINISTRATION

1.      Conducts all recruitment activities for area plants. (SR)  Tracks recruiting expenses and conducts employee orientations. (FR)

2.      Administers collective bargaining agreements at area plants. (SR)  Coordinates all first and second step grievances with supervisors and plant manager. (SR)  Works with RVPHR an all third step grievances and arbitrations. (SR)

3.      Monitors employee relations (union) issues; promptly investigates complaints/issues and makes recommendations to plant management to resolve. (FR)

4.      Monitors unemployment claims; ensures irregular claims are contested. (SR)

5.      Keeps abreast of all Federal, State and Local laws and regulations. (FR)  Assure plant adheres to these requirements. (SR)

6.      Conducts performance appraisal training. (FR)  Ensures performance appraisals are conducted on annual basis. (FR)

7.      Maintains and assures the accuracy of all personnel/medical records. (FR)

8.      Maintains attendance and award programs.  (SR)

9.      Keeps track of employee turnover at area plants. (SR)

BENEFIT ADMINISTRATION

1.      Assures accuracy and security of all benefit records for all employees. (SR)

2.      Provides orientation for employees on benefits.  Answer benefit questions posed by employees. (SR)

3.      Assures collection of premiums from employees on lay-off, leave of absence, etc. (SR)

EQUAL EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY

SUPVISORY DUTIES

1.      4 to 8 Plant Payroll/Personnel Clerks (Indirect reports to Sr. HR Representative)

2.     Handle HR duties for about 100 salaried employees over 500 hourly employees on 2 shifts                                         

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education:   Bachelors degree with emphasis in human resources or business preferred

Experience (years & type)    Four Years Human Resource experience and union / labor (employee relations) background is required. Position is based in either Kansas City, KS or Saint Paul, MN and will require approximately 50% travel mostly between these two plants. All travel and lodging expenses will be fully reimbursed by the company.
