Geoscience Technician

Join a world class leader in the energy industry for a critical Geoscience Technician position at their headquarters in Houston, Texas.  In 2007, the revenues were at $65B and they are continuing to expand.     

Overview:

This position will support US Onshore Exploration unconventional  resources teams in the assembling of exploration, production and well  data required for analysis of geologic plays at the field and region  level. The candidate will construct routine maps and cross sections  and will process data in geologic mapping and GIS software.  Familiarity with geologic data such as well logs, production and well  information and scout data will be required. The candidate will work  closely with geoscientists working a variety of plays in USOE  unconventional resources teams working projects in East Texas and  North Louisiana, some mid-continent and the Appalachian Basin. This  will require a self-directed individual who can research a project and  compile pertinent data from a variety of sources listed above. The  successful candidate will provide completed reports and supporting  information, and build and maintain geologic databases. Computer  literacy is necessary for this position and a working knowledge of  Microsoft Word and Excel is needed. A current familiarity with  geologic data and software packages is a plus; training will be  provided. The successful candidate will be an integral part of the  geologic teams in the unconventional resources groups.

Responsibilities:

1.Research on and assembling of geologic information needed for exploration activities.
2.Assist teams in organizing data, helping to  set up the G&G databases required for technical assistance.
3.Scanning then digitizing log data for inclusion in  petrophysical and geologic databases. Transferring data from Neurolog,  IHS databases and Landmark into Geographix and GIS  programs.
4.Verifying well data in Geographix, velocity surveys, well  locations, depths, directional surveys, etc.
5.Routine construction  of industry activity and other geologic and GIS maps.

Degree: Not required
Certifications: None required
Computer  Proficiencies: ARCMap GIS, IHS Production and well databases, Neuralog  well and map diitizing software and Geographix. Microsoft Word, Excel  & PowerPoint are all preferred.
Work Experience: Experience providing  support for Exploration and/or Production organizations is preferred.  Familiarity with the type of information used for geologic evaluation  and GIS application is necessary.
