Overview:
Positions will work North American Gas Plays in Oklahoma, and will report to the Northern area Exploration Manager. Locations are Oklahoma City or Houston. The Geophysicist must be familiar with Landmark 2D and 3D interpretation and mapping, and should be comfortable with seismic analysis tools to create forward models of interpretations. May need to interface with vendor and service organizations on seismic acquisition, application of time and depth migration, and other advanced technologies. Must be able to work in a team environment and find ways to integrate geophysical processes to improve project results.
Responsibilities:
· Plans and makes recommendations for carrying out geophysical analyses and exploration
activities.
· Furnishes advice and guidance to less experienced professionals or specialist personnel
and other personnel as situations require.
· Participates in (with geologists, landmen, and engineers) identification, ranking, leasing,
and drilling recommendations for multiple prospects within a given area. Monitor competitor activity to make quick and informed decisions when farm-out opportunities arise. Be the geophysical interface to partners on joint projects.
· May represent the company in contract geophysical field operations, ensuring that crews are competently staffed and adequately equipped.
· Assembles, correlates and arranges geophysical data and maps; constructs and maintains
original maps and cross sections showing available geophysical information; advises on the
appropriate application of this information and its significance. Makes synthetic ties from
logs to seismic data.
· Makes cost analyses and develops other informative statistics regarding geophysical operations to aid in more efficient and economical exploitation and development.
· Establishes and maintains appropriate professional relationships within the industry and
with other organizations and individuals to expand professional knowledge and develop useful source contacts.
· Keeps up with new developments in geophysical technology and explores possible applications to exploitation and development activities.
Qualifications:
- Degree: Bachelors Required & Masters Preferred
- Major: Geophysics or Geology
- Computer Proficiencies: Workstation interpretation and basic PC skills. Accomplished 3-D seismic interpreter on Landmark Seisworks a plus
