JOB SUMMARY:
The Project Engineer is a hands-on design position engaged in designing and developing products of moderate complexity with minimum supervision from a Design Manager. Products are taken from concept through design, qualification, and into successful production.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Works closely with product marketing, demonstrates design intent and concept feasibility through CAD solid models and physical prototypes as needed
· Creates complex 3-D surface and solid Pro/Engineer CAD models of new products, as well as detailed engineering drawings to support manufacturing
· Determines and optimizes design through analysis
· Develops products in accordance with key objectives: security/functionality, ease-of-use, aesthetics, and value to our customers
· Works closely with functional team, including Electronics Engineering, Industrial Design, Marketing, Manufacturing & Quality to achieve product goals
· Schedules meetings to review product design in each phase of engineering
· Develops and tracks test plans to qualify designs
· Provides assistance in determining product goals
· Plans and manages resources to meet schedules
· Clearly and frequently communicates with all functional areas
· Develops standards, procedures and compliance thereof
· Supports manufacturing as needed for product manufacturing support of launched products
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
· BSME degree or equivalent work experience
· 3-8 years post-graduate engineering related work experience
· 3-D solid modeling experience (Pro/E preferred)
· Ability to apply proper principles of drawing, dimensioning, tolerance
· Ability to understand and apply current techniques for design of plastic parts for injection molding and manufacturing assembly
· Thorough familiarity with and experienced in processes used to produce parts and assemble products
· Tollgate product development process experience
