Job Description:
Controls Engineer/Vehicle Calibration Engineer Join a World Leader in the Automotive Motors

Key responsibilities: - The applicant will develop, tune and test engine system level diagnostics on the light-duty diesel engine.
- The applicant will work cross-functionally with hardware and software component development teams, the Central Diagnostic Systems team, and the light-duty Controls and CPE teams to deliver diagnostics that meet EPA/C-ARB certifications.
- Academic coursework or work experience must include: electronic systems, including mixed signal (analog and digital) operation; Matlab/Simulink; digital design concepts; control algorithm designs; and adaptive control systems.
- A working knowledge of diesel engine operation and performance is preferred.
Specific responsibilities include: - Work with functional development groups to develop diagnostic concepts, design diagnostic algorithms, and document algorithms in appropriate format.
- Develop calibration tuning procedures using Six Sigma principles including DOE.
- Lead cross-functional reviews of diagnostic designs and tuning procedures.
- Perform analysis and testing to validate algorithm and identify "good" and "bad" system performance.
- Develop plans for validation of assigned diagnostics.
- Monitor progress of field test vehicles and support troubleshooting activities.
- Support EPA/c-ARB certification.
- Assist in creation of certification package.
- Ensure required demonstration and evaluation tests are performed for assigned diagnostics.
- Support internal and cross-functional reviews.
- Respond to questions from regulators as required.
Required Skills - Functional/Technical: - BS or MS in electrical or mechanical engineering
- Education or equivalent experience with engine controls and performance.
- Experienced person in automotive controls with engine/vehicle calibration and tuning.
- Control algorithm/ Control Systems development experience
- MATLAB / SIMULINK experience desired.
- Ability to design experiments and analyze resulting data to identify relationships between sensed parameters and system health/performance.
- Knowledge of diesel engine operation and components
Required Skills - Quality/Improvement: - Desire experience with Six Sigma (DFSS or DMAIC) tools, specifically Design of Experiments, tolerance analysis, etc.
- Failure Modes and Effects Analysis.
- Use of Analysis Led Design techniques
