Broad Function and Objective Reports to the Kansas City Plant Manager. The Kansas City plant generates about $45M/yr in revenues and employes about 200 workers. The Material Planner will calculate the material requirements needed to support production and sales objectives for the plant, with pricing, delivery and quality specifications as enumerated in national agreements. Principal Accountabilities 1. Establishes schedules for material supply within production plans and inventory objectives. 2. Generates orders releasing refined raw materials to support plant production levels and inputs required purchase order data into computer. 3. Places orders on non-national contract purchases as required by plant needs and inputs required purchase order data into computer. 4. Sources and recommends suppliers (from approved supplier list) in order to insure appropriate combination of price, delivery and quality for non-contract purchase orders. 5. Expedites all open purchase orders and/or contract releases. 6. Reschedules material as necessary to meet production plans and/or needs. 7. Tracks, manages supplier delivery and quality performance. 8. Controls inventory balances and order accuracy to calculate future supply schedules. 9. Maintains MSDS records. Minimum Qualifications Required For This Position Inventory control or Purchasing experience in a manufacturing environment and strong Excel expertise is required.
